Humanitarian work in Peru, 1996
With Project Compassion
In October of 1996, I took part of a humanitarian mission with Project Compassion US (a Christian organization). Along with 8 doctors, 2 dentists, some translators and construction workers, I volunteered to help the extremely poor community of Iquitos, Peru. While our stay, we treated over 800 patients, while the construction team built a school and a church. We embarked on this mission to give our time and expertise to less fortunate people, in reality the Peruvians thought us as much as we thought them.
